F5 also known as the Function 5 key is a keyboard shortcut that is usually used to refresh a page but it also serves different purposes in different programs.
How to use it?
Just click the F5 function key in any program to see what it does.

In Apple Mac, pressing the F5 will decrease the backlight of your keyboard.

In all the major browsers, the F5 shortcut key is used to refresh the current page.
Pressing the F5 key in Outlook will help you update a list of contact group members.
