Ctrl + 2 also known as Control + 2 is a keyboard shortcut that is often used to switch to the second tab in an Internet browser but it serves a different purpose in different programs.
How to use Ctrl + 2?
One needs to press and hold the "Ctrl" key on the keyboard and press the "2" key with it.
For using these shortcuts, you need to use the 2 key located above the top row keys, not on the numeric keypad.
- Ctrl + 2 in Excel:
- Ctrl + 2 in Word:
- Ctrl + 2 in Outlook:
In Microsoft Excel, if you choose to press the "Ctrl + 2" key, it will bold the content of the selected cell.
In Microsoft Word, Ctrl + 2 lets to change a line, paragraph, or all highlighted text to have double spacing.
If you choose to press "Ctrl + Alt + 2", it will change the selected text to heading 2.
In Outlook, Ctrl + 2 is used to go to the calendar.
In Apple computers, Command + 2 is used to display items as a list in the finder.
In all the major browsers (e.g. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera), Ctrl + 2 key is used to switch to the second tab of the browser.
In Youtube, the "2" key is used to move to the 20% of the video.
