  • It was mined in 1999 by De Beers in South Africa. It weighs 59.60 carats and is rated as Fancy Vivid Pink colour by the Gemological Institute of America. The Pink Star was formerly known as Steinmetz Pink and it was bought by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises in an auction in 2017.

  • It was discovered in 1986 in the Premier Mine of South Africa. When it was found, the original weight of the diamond was around 599 carats but later it was cut to a modified shape that weighs 273.85 carats. It is rated as grade D colour by the Gemological Institute of America, which is the highest grade of a colourless diamond. Its owner is unknown.

The Hope Diamond is known to be cursed because of the misfortune and tragedy that many of its previous owners experienced. Currently, it is housed in the National Gem and Mineral collection at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.

Cullinan I or the Great Star of Africa is the largest one among the stones weighing 530.4 carats.

Topping the list of most expensive diamonds is the legendary "Koh-I-Noor". The stone is believed to be mined in India in the 1300s and its weight is 105.6 carat. There are various controversies surrounding this diamond as it is believed to rightfully belong to India but was stolen from India by Britain. Britain acquired the diamond in 1850 and in 1852, it was cut from 186ct to 105.6ct and currently, it sits as the crown jewel of the queen. Its value cannot be determined as it is considered the private property of the queen of England. It was also bartered and gifted, but never sold to anyone.
