F2 also known as Function 2 key is a keyboard shortcut used to rename any selected file or folder.
How to use it?
One just needs to select a file and then, press the "F2" function key to rename it.

In Microsoft Excel, pressing the F2 function key while selecting a cell will let you edit the content of that particular cell.
Tap Shift + F2, if you wish to add or edit a cell comment. You can also open the print option by clicking Ctrl +F2.
In Microsoft Word, the F2 function key doesn't do anything but if you choose to press Ctrl + F2, it will open the print pane.
Press the Ctrl + Alt + F2 key to open any other word document.
In Apple Mac, F2 is used to increase the brightness of the screen.
F2 function key is used in Outlook to rename any selected folder's name.
